10 MCS-certified firms for Beverley, Molescroft, Tickton, Walkington and the rest of HU17.

Beverley is one of the most protected towns in the East Riding. Its conservation area was an early one, designated in 1969, and it holds 339 listed buildings, from the Minster, begun around 1225, to North Bar, built in 1409. Around the historic core, Molescroft, Woodmansey and the villages towards Hull and the Wolds are mostly newer housing where panels are usually straightforward.

This guide is written for Beverley. A 4kW roof here is estimated to produce 3,906 kWh a year, and at Yorkshire price-cap rates each unit you use yourself saves 25.60p. Beverley is also unusual in having several MCS installers inside its own postcode. Below are ten, eight of them in HU17, each checked against the MCS listings and its own site or register entries.

TL;DR: A 4kW system in Beverley is estimated to produce about 3,906 kWh a year, worth roughly £705–£805 a year at Yorkshire price-cap rates, with payback in about 8.1–9.2 years on a typical £6,490 install. Homes in the conservation area need a planning check first.

Frequently Asked Questions

What grant help is there for solar in Beverley?

It’s limited for private homes right now. East Riding of Yorkshire Council received £1.5 million as a sole lead authority for the Warm Homes: Local Grant, and in June 2026 said its allocation, delivered with E.ON, would go towards upgrading around 600 social homes, including loft insulation and solar panels. We couldn’t find an open route for owner-occupiers, and the council says ECO4 and the Great British Insulation Scheme are closed. Ask its healthy homes team on (01482) 396301 about anything new.

Can I put panels on a house in Beverley’s old town?

Usually, if they go on the right roof slope. The conservation area covers the Minster, the Markets, North Bar Within and Without, Westwood, Norwood, Flemingate and Beckside. Street-facing roofs and elevations there need planning permission before any panels go up, and any of the 339 listed buildings needs listed building consent.

Does the Beverley Article 4 direction cover solar?

Not directly. The Article 4 direction that Beverley Borough Council made in 1985 was used to control cladding on houses. It says nothing about panels, but the conservation-area limits on road-facing roofs still apply, so check with East Riding planning if your home is on a protected street.

Is there big renewable energy near Beverley?

Yes, offshore. The huge Dogger Bank wind farm, which first produced power in October 2023, connects to the grid at the Creyke Beck substation near Cottingham, just south of Beverley. We didn’t find any solar farms within a few miles of the town.

Are there solar installers actually based in Beverley?

More than in most towns we cover. Eight of the ten firms in this guide have HU17 addresses, including Elite Services Group at Capital Park, Northern Retrofit on Beck View Road, Urbn Solar on Lairgate and Boston Renewables on Norwood. A local base usually means shorter survey waits and easier aftercare.

How much will panels produce in Beverley?

PVGIS estimates about 3,906 kWh a year for a 4kW array tilted at 35° and facing south in Beverley. That’s about 2% more than Goole and around 7% more than Durham. Output is highest in May, at roughly 484 kWh, and lowest in December at about 131 kWh.

How much would a 4kW system save in Beverley?

Beverley is billed at the Yorkshire cap rate of 25.60p per kWh for October to December 2026. A 4kW array earns about £705–£805 a year when a household consumes 40–60% of its generation and sells the surplus for 13p per unit. On that basis a £6,490 system clears its cost in about 8.1–9.2 years.

Final Thoughts

In Beverley, start with the map. If your home is inside the conservation area or listed, talk to East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s planning team before booking surveys. In Molescroft, Woodmansey, Tickton and most of HU17, panels can usually go ahead under permitted development.

With so many installers in the town itself, get at least three quotes and ask each for a roof-specific output estimate to compare with the 3,906 kWh figure above.
